Everfrost Album Artwork Revealed, Updates, Release Info and More

The last two months have been very busy for the band, me and everyone involved in the new Everfrost album, Blue Eyed Emotion!

First of all the cover artwork for the album created by mangaka, Michiru Bokido was revealed. We totally love it and hope you like this poster featuring it and would love to hear what you think. Hopefully this gives you a view into the themes and story of the album, also the visual style of our winter metal music mixing metal with manga!

In mid November I had my own table at Kitacon in Kemi, Finland to promote the album. I was selling the poster and our older music as well as other fan products and merch for the band and album. We nearly ran out of flyers and it was awesome watching people getting their hands on the music and curious about our collaboration with Michiru! We had a great time and the whole con was a fun experience, seeing other artists and products, cosplays and events, plus it was really nice to see so many friends there.
Here's a photo of my table!

It was also time to make a new album update video so here is me being awkward in front of the camera talking about Blue Eyed Emotion and Michiru's new manganoke,Knight of Fae coming next year. There is also a teaser clip of our new song 'The Glades and the Cradle' which we wrote for the Knight of Fae anime trailer, let us know what you think!

This month the album release information was revealed including the tracklist, release date, distributors and more. The full post is available HERE or click the poster below!
Blue Eyed Emotion by EVERFROST will be available December 19
Album teaser video coming soon!

Everfrost Single Updated and New Cover

Everfrost
My band, Everfrost have now released an updated version of the Silver Nights, Golden Dreams single we originally made available in December, 2014. The track was in its early stages at that point and as the release of our upcoming album, Blue Eyed Emotion comes closer we decided to update the single release with the track in its current form.
The final album version will of course be polished some more and remastered, but here is a closer look into the album’s progression. I hope you enjoy the song along with the two B-sides and new album artwork! This release is available exclusively on Bandcamp.com

Recently I also made a metal cover of 'Shocking Party' by the band A-Rise from the anime Love Live! School Idol Project. It is available to stream on Soundcloud and I made a cover video for it on Youtube.
I'm very busy with our upcoming album at the moment as we are aiming to have the mix ready by the second week of November and then send it for mastering. There will be more news and information on the album coming next month!

Everfrost and Michiru Bokido Interview and Article

Everfrost

I have a big update about the upcoming Everfrost album and news about something very exciting we are bringing you!

The Blue Eyed Emotion album visually will combine anime/manga with our music to tell a story. I wouldn't call it a concept album but it is heavily story-based with characters who exist in the music and album visuals. I hadn't really seen this kind of thing done with anime and manga before outside of Japan so I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. But then we were lucky enough to get a chance to work with professional Japanese mangaka, Michiru Bokido!

It turned out that he was beginning work on a brand new manga of his own called 'Knight of Fae' and throughout this process invented a new form of manga he dubbed, 'manganoke'. The manganoke concept is to present a coloured manga comic and make the reader feel as if they are reading an anime. This will lead to a fully animated anime trailer for the book and we were asked to compose a song for it!

I will talk more about the song later but it will be coming soon with the trailer release. The song will also appear on our upcoming album so the trailer release will be like the first official single for the album. This has brought Michiru very close to the band and our music and we're ready to announce that he will illustrate the story and album visuals of 'Blue Eyed Emotion'!

We appeared in an article as Everfrost with Michiru and were interviewed by Mitch Campbell about the album, collaboration and manganoke. Check it out below or here!

Three Covers from Everfrost

The three of us have been working hard on the upcoming Everfrost album and we have some big updates coming. But first here are three covers from each of us that we have been sharing around.

First one is 'This Not Over Yet' by our vocalist, Hew!

More of his unique and dramatic vocal style to come on Blue Eyed Emotion.

Next is Deep Purple's 'Soldier of Fortune' by our lead guitarist, Markus!

You'll get to hear his awesome lead playing soon with the album release.

And third is a guitar/keyboards cover of Finntroll's 'Mordminnen' by myself!

Hope you enjoy these and we have been working on some more covers as a band to release before the album is ready!
To give you an idea on the album process, as of today I have finished tracking my guitar parts, Markus also has one solo to do and then all of the guitars for the whole thing are ready. Things are really starting to take shape!

Here is a bonus photo of us, we all thank you for reading, listening, supporting and can't wait to show you our new music!

Youtube and Side Projects

When I have free time I make cover videos on Youtube of anime songs, metal songs and music from games. I haven't had much time lately to make a new one but I do have something cool in mind.
The last cover I did was of the Angry Video Game Nerd theme in an industrial metal style. I guess this falls into the games category?..

The track itself is available to download on Soundcloud:

It would be cool to hear this in a Nerd episode but there are so many other great covers of this song. ^__^

A while ago I started working with Robert Russell from Awaken Solace. He has been doing his own side composing work for many years and has an impressive Youtube channel of his work ranging from fantasy orchestral music, to baroque/celtic music to symphonic metal. Check it out here.
I drummed on a war song called Ten Thousand Ghosts which he posted back in April this year. Hew Wagner also did the vocals for this and did a fantastic job! The song has an interesting orchestral style and is quite operatic and theatrical. Hope you like it. : )

More stuff on the album next time!

Everfrost - New Guitarist and New Name

So much has happened since the last time I updated!

The album (Blue Eyed Emotion) is coming together well and things are now looking more on the 'home stretch' side. There is still a lot of work to be done but it isn't as daunting as it was in the beginning. My ability with mixing has also improved since the first single release so thankfully the full thing will have a greater sound. I have also nearly completed all of my guitar parts!

Even though the album features many guest artists and musicians, the official band members up until now have been myself making the music and Hew Wagner performing vocals. However now it's time to introduce a new member:

Meet Markus Laito, our official lead guitarist!

Markus has now been recording guitar solos and lead parts for the songs on the album and he has brought a new level to the music. He's a skilled, versatile guitarist, solid vocalist and overall great musician. It's been awesome working with him and we both want to continue working together when the band gets going after the album release. Markus is from southern Finland and even though I live in Lapland, Finland we're still searching for members in both areas.
You will get to hear Markus' playing when the album is ready but for now you can check out this cover he made of Hallelujah!

So from one big announcement we go to another.
Hew and I have been talking about the identity of this band and we decided to come up with a new name for us. Snowkid works well as an alias for myself but it doesn't work well enough to represent the three of us as a band.
It took a long time but we have now settled on the name Everfrost!
When I made the new logo we wanted it to be reminiscent of the Snowkid logo but have more 'weight' and 'sharpness' to it. The name is something we feel describes the music and themes along with the image we have in mind. Over time I will introduce the official name to our online places and announce it properly through Youtube. I will still use Snowkid for my own personal work and as an identity in the band, but Everfrost is now our official name. Hope you like it!

Next time I have some announcements about more guest appearances and other cool stuff! I can't say too much at the moment but we are also involved in a very special project that is something I've never seen a metal band do before.

Best wishes to you all and thanks for reading!

Convention Appearance

Yesterday I had an artist alley spot at Mangapäivä in Kemi, Finland! The whole convention was a great success and it was awesome to meet some new people and hangout with friends while promoting the music and selling other products. Perhoslapsi did a great job of organising the event and making something usually small extra special this year!

My table:

Of course the first album and the latest single were on sale but I was also selling pins, phone charms and bookmarks.
These bookmarks are exclusive merch for the upcoming album, Blue Eyed Emotion.

Here are some more photos from the event, lots of great cosplays and cool stuff for sale!

My other half, Henriak and our friend Kawamaru were also there selling their artwork. People seemed to like these mini-canvas paintings of desserts that Henriak made!

You can watch her speed-painting one of them here!

I'll have more news on the album soon, things have been going smoothly. Recently I made this metal? cover of Sakura Kiss from Ouran High Host Club and did a guitar video for it. You can watch it here, hope you like!
